Steve leads me to the dining room table, which is already set for three. I look at the third place setting and suddenly remember what happened with Bucky last night. I push the thought aside and try to focus on the present. He’s filling my plate with food and I have to touch his hand and tell him to stop because there’s no way I’m eating all this food.
During breakfast, we get to know one another. I tell him about my family, the fact that I was raised by my grandfather, and that I have no close family left. No one is going to miss me or wonder where I went – at least not for a while.
